FACT: Oilheat does not harm one's health. The possibility of an Oilheat system releasing carbon monoxide is extremely rare. However, encouraging your clients to install CO detectors throughout the home is still good advice. MYTH: Oilheat explodes. FACT: Oilheat does not explode. Oilheat will not burn in a liquid state. In order to light heating oil on fire, you must heat it to the temperature at which it begins to vaporize, which is 140°F. If you were to drop a match into heating oil, it would go out as if dropped into water MYTH: Oilheat is dirty. FACT: Oilheat burns clean. Achievements in oil burner technology have resulted in emissions levels approaching zero. MYTH: Oilheat is not dependable. FACT: Oilheat suppliers have always kept their customers warm, and will continue to do so.
